The 1.16.3 patch changes quite a few of EU4’s core mechanics including how claims are fabricated and how overextension works, and adds “sailors” (manpower for ships) and “states/territories” which checks expansion generally and encourages expansion within predefined adjoining areas. Be sure to milk all the gold out of them you can.Īnd remember that this list isn't set in stone, just how I succeeded and what I saw that worked.Mare Nostrum, the latest expansion for EU4, includes micromanagement AIs for navies, coastal raiding for north African States and “trade leagues,” a mechanic for small republics to band together against large monarchies. Some of the minors you conquer are pretty rich. The clergy gives you the stability and conversion power to expand into Muslim lands and the Cossacks give you the power to do it. On that note, ride the Clergy and the Cossacks nuts. They are extremely difficult and you need all the help you can get. If you aren't good at estate management or don't own the Cossacks, don't try to play Circassia. Independence: At this point you should be strong enough to go to war with your neighbors (minus Otto) without aid and conquer Theo and Treb. Take the Armenian provinces and Arbadil (access to the weak Taberistan). QQ: Around 1460 or so they should be pretty weak, whether from Armenian rebellion or war with Otto, Timmy or Mammy. Let Muscovy do the fighting for you and do the sieging. Crimea is usually the easiest target followed by GH.

The Hordes: Depending on how long and brutal the horde war at the start was, some of their land could be up for the taking. Muscovy: If things have gone well enough, you should be able to rival GH and get Muscovy as an ally. After the war goes for a bit, QQ will declare on them and start sieging so don't expect to take all the provinces. If your general is good enough you can beat them in direct combat. Georgia: Georgia is easily defeated by juking them (Not engaging in direct combat and just sieging). Shirvan and Gazik: Claim and take Gazik then do the same to Shirvan. This will prevent an attack from Georgia from ruining you. After a month or two you should be able to ally both of them. Trebizond and Theodoro: Start improving relations with Theo and build 2 units (unit cap). For a Circassia start to be playable, there needs to be a large horde war to the north that draws attention away from you. Crimea will always rival you and usually declare an early war. Here are a few things I noticed.Ĭircassia is a restart nation. Interestingly, I just started my Circassia game today.
